| Lifeline Language Services was founded in 1990 to provide emergency language translation services to the haulage industry - hence the name! We now provide language services for (almost) everything, in over 150 languages. (Hint; never trust a translation service provider who claims to do "all languages" - that's just silly!) A customer awareness survey for the ATC showed Lifeline Language Services to be one of the most recognised language providers in the UK - and with extremely few complaints ever in our 19 year history, great references, and a nomination for our Chamber of Commerce & Industry "Business of the Year" Award, that seems quite reasonable! | ||
| Based in Preston, Lancashire NW UK we have lower operating costs than many competitors, allowing us to deliver a complete range of highly cost-effective language translation services including Translation, Interpreting, Voiceover + Subtitling, Transcription, and multilingual Typesetting in over 150 languages. | ||
| We are a Translation Company, not an Agency. If you're buying translation services, it's important to know the difference. Translation Companies translate and proof-read in-house and add value by assuring quality; we have professional translators in-house, including a Spanish Government-authorised Sworn Spanish Translator and Interpreter, an MITI and an MCIL, and other professionally qualified linguists. They ensure that as well as being 100% translation reviewed all work is also 100% checked for completeness and formatting. It's also worth noting that the better Companies - like ourselves - belong to professional bodies and are governed by strict Codes of Conduct to maintain the highest standards. For ourselves these bodies are The Association of Translation Companies (ATC) and the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI) of which we are Corporate Members. | ||
| We are also an Ethical Company. We really appreciate that buying language is problematic for clients - quality control of purchased interpreting and translation services is difficult and costly for buyers, and they must then place a lot of trust in the provider. With us, that trust is justified - as our references show. We NEVER capitalise on a buyer's language inexperience to rip them off; we ALWAYS hold their hand throughout the process - whether they're buying repeatedly for the largest multinational, or just once for their daughter's marriage certificate. And we always charge a FAIR PRICE - one that lets us pay our suppliers and staff properly, but not that keeps us in new sports cars. How many translation service providers think like that? We're a Green Company. We try to minimise our footprint on the planet, which is why we've just replaced all our printers and monitors with low-energy ones, and recycle EVERYTHING. We even moved our translation service out of old and badly insulated offices into thermally efficient modern ones - although the move wasn't purely for green reasons, that WAS a factor in selecting the new premises. And we're a Socially Responsible Company. We take very seriously our society involvement, accepting students for work placement and working with local schools to encourage future linguists, such as presenting at Career Fairs (check out our BT Tradespace BLOG for October, as well as helping our ethnic community members qualify as translators and interpreters to raise their community's living standards. |

| Unlike some large language providers, we never bully suppliers into working for penal rates. We also pay reliably. This means we attract and retain the best, so our translation service offering is always good. If you're being quoted low prices - and some providers are desperate for any work at any price - it usually means either that a translator or interpreter is being bullied into working for peanuts, or that your project will be sourced from inexperienced, sometimes unqualified, resources. Such providers often also set ridiculous output targets, meaning you'll SO get the quality you need... We're DIFFERENT - as well as paying proper rates ourselves we're actually battling for decent pay for public service interpreters. You can see our ("Star"!) letter on the subject in the May edition of the ITI Bulletin, the journal of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting. |
